How To Relieve Morning Sickness

Most of the women during pregnancy face an annoying problem called morning sickness. In order to ease these problems you need to know few things about what causes morning sickness.

According to some statistics more than 60% of pregnant women experience morning sickness. And although in most cases this condition occurs during the morning some women can experience it during the day too. It is interesting that the symptoms of morning sickness are manifested only in the first three months of pregnancy and they should be completely gone after that period. Once again, in some cases might have trouble with this issue during the whole pregnancy. Morning sickness is typical for younger women, women who are overweight, those who are pregnant for the first time and those who carry twins or triplets. In rare cases this phenomenon can cause dehydration because of the frequent vomiting and pregnant women might be held in hospital for a while. If you are experiencing frequent sickness, visiting your doctor is a must.

In ancient times people believed that morning sickness appears because the future mother doesn’t have positive feeling about her unborn child or she was worried about some other things. Thanks to the modern medicine we are now sure that the direct cause of the morning sickness is the hormones. During pregnancy, women have to deal with hormonal changes that lead to trouble with processing certain types of food. Besides that, things like fatigue, stress and fear about the future and what will happen next also contribute to the occurrence of morning sickness.

The best thing to relieve the symptoms of morning sickness is to observe it carefully. Try to figure out how your stomach reacts to specific types of food. In this way you will find out which type of food relives the sickness and which type causes problems. Many women say that a piece of toast, cheese or biscuits help them with this problem, but what works for some women doesn’t mean that it will work for others. The food that you consume during pregnancy is extremely important and there are some rules regarding food intake that can affect the appearance of nausea. For example, try to avoid food that is hard to digest. Another thing that you can do is to stop consuming food that is rich in spices and hard for the stomach (for example certain cuisines that are known for the use of spices should be avoided). Instead of having only two or three main meals, try to have 5-6 smaller meals during the day. In this way you will ease the pressure on your stomach. Remember to take plenty of fluids and carbohydrates too.

If you are stressed and you notice that the stress and the pressure has an impact on your condition try to find a way to relax. Avoid stressful situations and use some of the techniques for relaxation like yoga and meditation. Any type of moderate physical activity can be beneficial. Finally, don’t forget to consult with your doctor about everything you do.
